OT on health insurance

I'm wearing the leftover health insurance of a business corporation I formed with 1 other person. We're no longer in business together, and the corporation is dormant/dead, but I learned 2 things about health insurance in the process:

1) to be a "group" for the purposes of the health insurance provider we used (Allina), we needed to have a minimum of (only) 2 people insured

2) when we broke up the business, we each had the option of continuing our insurance with Allina on substantially the same terms as when we had been a "group", or on amended terms from a broad range of choices, from bare bones to very complete coverage.

Thus, I am now paying a pretty low premium (imho) for reasonably good (3rd level up from the bottom of perhaps 10 plan levels) insurance. Few bells and whistles, just solid basic health insurance.

I'm no expert on insurance, but from this experience, and from conversations with my insurance agent, I'm aware that the key to the low premium was to have been in a "group", hence my comments to Paul A.

regards,

phill
