I think you just hit the nail on the head retireasy, as to why the carnage. If the president was ousted, he may have decided to dump his shares.

Dropping that many shares onto the market all at once would have a predictable (and depressing) effect.

Picked some up today and will sell something to get more SMNPF tomorrow if it gets good enough here... "good" being a relative term.

That guy doesn't have enough shares to hold this thing down forever, and he's just doing the longs a great big favor.
