I used to work in the public transportation industry, I was the test department manager, the movie companies always had about 1/3 of the busses (about 60 in San Fran) running ads for upcoming movies/DVD releases. It is a very cheap and effective way of getting the name out into the public, its cheaper than a TV/Radio ad. They are printed on vinyl stickers, the most costly part of this type of ad is getting someone to go out and place the ads on the vehicle. The people that were installing them at the bus yards were college students earning a little extra cash (under the table) with one person who was actually responsible for getting the job done, he just made sure it was done and done right. They would come up on weekends and spend all day installing decals and get about 20-30 coaches done a day (various ads from movies to food stores). Whatever the advertising agency had to put up is what they did.
