"Christian Socialism" vis-a-vis "Government Socialism"
Many Christians in the USA argue that there is nothing wrong with "Government socialism" because it is similar to ... "Christian socialism" ... . Let's compare the two and see if this is true.
(1) Participation in "Christian socialism" is VOLUNTARY. Participation in "Government socialism" is FORCED; if you refuse to pay your taxes, the Government will fine you and/or imprison you and/or seize your property.
(2) "Christian socialism" is rooted in the TITHE of the Mosaic Law, where everyone, rich and poor alike, was asked to VOLUNTARILY contribute a FLAT 10% of their property/wealth each year to the Levites [ie, the priesthood] in support of liturgical, educational, and welfare programs. "Government socialism" imposes a graduated income tax on the top half of income earners [as confiscatory as 55% for the rich], but instructs the bottom half of income earners to pay 0% in income taxes.
(3) "Christian socialism" is usually administered by Christian volunteers who provide services based on Christian principles. "Government socialism" is usually administered by Government employees who are given salaries and pensions and benefits and job security and career ladders, and who must provide services based on political legislation.
