I share your concern about the thundering silence.

On the subject of targeted killings, I am reminded of the similar predator based launch of a missle in Afghanistan that killed three men. I wonder how a CIA employee can look at the image from the camera of a predator drone and make a decision to fire and kill - simply on the basis that one of the men appears to be tall (and therefore might be bin laden) while on the other hand we will soon go through the charade of a death penalty trial for the washington area snipers - with all the associated handwringing and consternation and debate about due process, legal protections, admissable evidence, etc, etc. before we allow ourselves to adminster the 'ultimate' punishment which we reserve for only the most egregious and henious crimes...

what am i missing here?
