mike m, I sicerely doubt that there is any point discussing this with you. Was I excessive in my statement? In my opinion it depends on the time frame. It also depends on what the consequences will be of our actions. Our present course is causing fear and hate of the US worldwide. Why do we have our mercenary legions deployed around the world? To guard an empire? Whose empire? Certainly none that benefits the average American. A multinational corporate empire perhaps, but that should have nothing to do with the American government. The common people in this country may pay a very high price for tolerating this ongoing madness. If we suffer multiple terrorists strikes greatly exceeding 9/11 do you really think Muslims and Arabs will be safe in this country? Given the behaviour evidenced to date by John Ashcroft do you not think he would get much worse? Zeev's right, we are tossing out the window the rules that built this great country and we have a long way to fall.
