Oh it's coming Ruff. I like doing my updates pre-dating Mon-Fri. Just like AHIP would never happen. Just giving everyone a preview of my crystal ball. Stay tuned... smile My forecast of sunny skies began long before today.

This means Coriell began public (NJ) and private (Corcell) at the same time... where? NJ. Where is Cong. Smith from? NJ. The same state that shelved their bill in favor of HCL. Do you have anything to add to it Ruff?

Coriell, in partnership with Philadelphia-based Independence Blue Cross, has created its own for-profit company -- called CorCell Inc. -- that collects and stores umbilical cord blood for private use using Coriell technology.

Unlike CorCell's autologous bank, Coriell's proposed resource center would function as an allogeneic blood bank, which means anybody would have access to screening the collected and stored cord blood for a suitable match.

Beck said expectant mothers will be approached about donating the blood from their umbilical cord and placenta to the resource center. Permission will be needed because the blood will be tested for infectious diseases, he said.
