Your wife sounds a lot like mine. I run the finances and investments however I also have to deal with her if I lose any money.
That thought alone is enough for me not to gamble with our money. I never look for homeruns on an investment. Singles and an occasional double suffice for me. That being a 10-20% gain on a stock.
