This is big news...

Yes you do need permission to connect ANYTHING up to the grid.
And even if it is a U.L. approved commercial appliance, if it can generate power back into the grid.. the utility companies will fight it. Trying to get approval for an untested NEW type of device must have been a huge nightmare for Cyclone.

I have been thinking for quite a while now that utility company approval was probably the hold up with the Bent Glass installation all along... so this is a milestone.

Utility companies do not want local power generation. They are for the most part being FORCED to allow net metering by local governments. But left to their own they would rather NOT have you generating your own power (less of it for them to sell) much less you inserting your power onto their grid. (for a variety of reasons)

In post Katrina New Orleans, many who are rebuilding are trying to go green.. The local utility company (Entergy) has to let you sell electricity back to the grid.. but they don't make it easy..
some people who have tried to put solar power systems on their houses have had to jump thru hoops for years to finally get connected.

So this is indeed good new for Cyclone's Bent Glass installation.. but I will not be holding my breath that they can get this done by the end of the month.. Or the end of the year for that matter.. but with this announcement I now believe that it WILL be up and running at some time in the not too distant future...
I'll bet on April smile
