Thanks Brad
Someone ridiculed me before because I thought MMs had an inventory of shares. They said NO. Now you are saying YES (just not of higher priced shares).
I believe you mean, why a buy would show up as a short sale. YES
Well, if you take into consideration that whether a trade takes place on the bid or the ask, there's still two sides to every trade, it might help. I DO, THAT IS WHY I KEEP SAYING "YOU'RE IN TILL YOU'RE OUT"
Not unlike on the bid, the MM's can see how many shares are up for sale on the ask.
So, A.if someone wants to buy at the ask, they fill that buy order, (SAY AT .0002, THEY TAKE THE MONEY AND THAT PUTS THEM INTO THE TRADE)
then B.turn around and execute someones sell order to cover those shares.
I BELIEVE A 'NAKED' SHORT WOULD BE IF THEY CAN'T OR WON'T DO (b).
THEY NEVER GOT "OUT" OF THE TRADE.
THEY NEVER DID 'B' ON OVER 95% OF THE .0002 TRADES IN OCT, APR, DEC, SHALL I GO ON. SORRY I CAN'T GO BACK FURTHER BECAUSE THE FTD REPORTS PRIOR TO DEC OF LAST YEAR ARE NOW GONE.
