New shareholder here who is not surprised at the cancellation of the special dividend. I suspect favors were called in because of the huge short position which dictated the cancellation. Let management pull their shares in certificate form and use the cash they were going to pay the dividend with to buy back shares reducing the float and retire those shares. Instruct the transfer agent to make the updated figures on the float available to anyone who calls. New shorting rules go into effect tomorrow which hopefully will change for the better the way business has been done in the past. Those short may have recaptured a few shares today but no doubt in my mind others like myself took advantage of the fire sale prices and bought causing me to be confidant the short is still huge. Go EIGH!!!
