... logo is being designed for a securities firm
... logo & letterhead [are] "frontlines" to the general public
... be on website, statements and all correspondence
... should be as classic and classy as they can
... to look as responsible and stable as possible
... no excuse to be represented by chintzy graphics...
... reminiscent of Carnival Cruise Lines.
Paulie,
I have an inquire reminiscent of the elephant fable told in India.
Depending where a trader comes into contact with OCS,
they could acquire different views based on direct sight
or an image described by another's voice.
Hopefully this board can list more than my few insights.
1. Matt's business card
2. SI and IH's home page
3. ads placed on financial web sites
4. ads placed on financial print newspapers & magazines
5. Matt runs out of business cards and verbally describes OCS
6. Matt on t.v. talking to Marie Bararollomo wearing OCS t-shirt & cap
So I wonder, might two seperate logos be useable.
The first one easy to draw, of a few lines & one color
that is both eye catching and easy to recognize.
The second one (from you post) as...
1. to be "classic and classy"
2. to look "responsible and stable"
The first one is easy to size down to a business card
and still deliver the same "message" about it being OCS.
The second one having actual images to represent objects
that are related to either, or both:
1. market investing
2. stable, safe return, protective
eye catching and easy to remember...

... and recognize on a business card
Lighthouse...
http://adserv.stocksite.com/images/ocs/ocs5-parchitect.jpg
... protection, protective, security, stable
For sure the vector to signal a bull market is nice,
http://adserv.stocksite.com/images/ocs/ocs4-husker.jpg
but it also represents a market condition circa 1990s
and just prior to 1929. a.k.a. reality need not apply
ok,
Does the reality of:
"Even though [OCS] will be advertised as a "discount" service"
http://adserv.stocksite.com/images/ocs/ocs2-paulie.jpg
Why have a logo type that is found in high gloss magazines
that the upper class (aka rich folks) read to keep informed
of the latest 5 star restaurants, super sized yachts etc.
My take is to have two winners share the $1,000 50-50
and each develope their logo further via Matt and others
that are creating OCS.
For sure the logo at the top of this post using a few strokes
of orange curved lines to spell out OCS as a single unit is great.
I still like the lighthouse effect to represent protective & safe return
as a universal emotion when one travels unknowned waters.
My suggestion is to have the lighthouse logo a winner,
but as the ½ winner with the one able to be sized down
to a business card, and I see an opportunity to actually
combine the business card logo in the lighthouse, as follows:
The business card logo can also be viewed as a light source,
similiar to what one observes as being inside the lighthouse
as that bright lamp.
parchitect could redesign his logo and remove that cigeratte
a few mentioned, and even remove the hills the lighthouse
is perched upon. Then have the orange sun setting into the
same blue horizon of the ocean and have the looker's vision
at level with the lighthouse top that will be showned much
larger so that the businesscard logo is placed where the
lamp of the lighthouse would be.
This way the business card logo also appears in the larger
and more complex designed logo.
