Christie says NO to Corzine's RGGI !!!!
September 10th, 2010 -- Governor Chris Christie's much-heralded program for government reform and economic development overlooks one program that his predecessor got New Jersey into: the Regional Greenhouse Gases Initiative (RGGI).
The RGGI, as previously reported, is a special "cap-and-trade" market designed to provide incentives to residents and businesses in ten States to reduce their "carbon footprints." It holds annual "carbon auctions," the proceeds of which are supposed to support alternative-energy subsidies, carbon "sequestration" (chiefly from reforestation), and energy conservation. Former governor Jon S. Corzine signed New Jersey up with the program.
