I don't smoke myself, but I do live in Connecticut, and we still grow shade tobacco, though not nearly as much. My wife grew up across from a tobacco barn... Mother-in-law chopped topbacco as a youngster... That farm's gone but there are a a few left. There's still a demand and the Connecticut River Valley has beautiful soil down there.
