Oz, you are correct. at the moment of the split all remains equal. Shorts can only cover lower if the assumption holds that the SP will continue to fall after the split. To your suggestion though i agree, it almost always does! However, I do not believe that pinks are heavily shorted by anyone, hedge or else. Dog
