By the way, in case you didn't understand the court ruling, they DIDN'T say that they couldn't have a recount, they just set unreasonable conditions for it. Like saying that if the Florida supreme court set stricter guidlines (which they actually ordered them to do) THEN they could have a recount. Of course, they also said that if the Florida supreme court DID that, they would then violate the congressional rights in this area. They also said that the recount could be held, and then set a deadline which was unattainable, mainly because they had issued a stay which stopped the counting, even those being conducted under the very rules which they approved. It was simple partisanship. For instance, when they called (mistakenly) Florida for Gore, Sandra Day O'Connor was heard to remark "Damn!", because she had previously stated that she wanted to retire, but couldn't do so if Gore won, because she was afraid he would pick a replacement which wouldn't agree with her right-wing stance. Sounds pretty unbiased to me, Rule fairly and keep working, or rationalize the law, and retire - to Florida.
