Troy,
If I didn't already know you were a lawyer, it'd certainly be my first guess, after that post. <g> Wordy, big words, "defend"....
Regarding the jail being a free-for-all, I'm not really sure what happened to the place. Similar to the Q&A becoming a watering hole for the entire site.
Nowhere in the iBox does it say 'NO rules apply here.' or "Free reign for all" for the Jailhouse. I'd like for you to show me that. It just sort of evolved into that. The only place that kind of environment exists *should* be on the Parking Lot. But for some reason, it all keeps hovering into the Jailhouse.
The Jail was started with the concept in mind that it would be a place I would isolate folks and say "You've been doing X wrong, now, you owe me X." If you notice, I've never been one to make someone serve their time. I'd rather negotiate a deal for stock posts or something like that. I can't even recall making anyone do time. But, what the Jail has turned into is a court room, where everybody can voice their view. Which is good and bad.
So where do we stand? I have no problems with it remaining an open firing zone, but I would like to suggest that the jailed would be trying to figure out a way to get out, and not stay in here longer. So for them, I'd suggest, they come to the bargaining table....and taking open shots at people doesn't bode well for them. Do you not agree?
As far as Joe goes, I consider him an exception to all of this. His case simply can't apply because of the number of times he's been in here and hassled with. scu, I'm not sure. Didn't follow that one, actually. Fred called that shot. Churak....aye...he was jailed for picking a fight and calling people names, I think...has he changed?
