I doubt the folks at the UN are as believing as they sound and suspect that none of this was surprising to them either. It is as if arafat made some type of phoney concession, giving most of the UN a chance to express their true feelings, even though they know arafat's words are empty lies. Most of the UN are gutless and feckless, and more than willing for someone else to do what has to be done so the can wash their hands of the matter and continue business as usual with no risk to themselves.
