WASHINGTON – Five states — New York, California, Texas, Arizona and Florida — are perilously close to losing out on congressional seats because of lackluster participation in the U.S. census.
I understand some of these, but how did NY end up on the list? Maybe upstate NY?
Otherwise, it seems to be more good news for Democrats that the Republican fear tactics over the census have backfired, leaving their states with fewer seats, because their own citizens were convinced that turning in the census to Big Government would somehow be a bad thing.
