South Korean electronics brand Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (SEO: 005930) had kept the first place among China's TD-SCDMA cellphone market for six consecutive months since August 2009, citing a data report by globally leading market research organization The GfK Group.

Samsung Electronics is a steady dominator in the market bred by China Mobile Ltd. In February 2010, GfK said in its newest report, the South Korean company gripped a 53.8% share of the market.

Samsung Electronics has marketed a string of stylish TD-SCDMA cellphones tailored for Chinese customers in recent two years, such as I8180C, S3930C, S5630C, I6320C, I688, and L288. In particular, S3930C and S5630C respectively captured market shares of 24.2% and 13.9% in February.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China announced that China had a total 3G cellphone user base of 16.06 million in February, accounting for 1.5% of the nation's total 1.076230 billion phone users. In the month, China Mobile took a TD-SCDMA user base of 6.86 million, rising 790,000 and representing 42.7% of the total; China Telecom Corporation Ltd. (NYSE: CHA and SEHK: 0728) 5.14 million CDMA2000 users, increasing 320,000 and taking 32.0% of the total; and China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited (NYSE: CHU, HKSE: 0762, and SHSE: 600050) 4.06 million WCDMA users, climbing 410,000 and accounting for 25.3% of the total.
