Ronald Reagan was a puppet. Do you really think he had any original ideas? He was a figurehead. He was a mediocre actor and that is why he was popular. It is all an act. Big business runs the show and these presidential marionettes have little influence. Of course we mustn't discount the real power of the man in the background during those years either since he probably orchestrated most of what transpired. And now his son is in control.
