Don't know if that's a rhetorical question or a serious question. I'll take a swing here.

It's not unusual for that to happen after hours. Nothing significant in relation to the real stock movement. It usually changes at the opening bell.

However, I have seen traders bite at the high ask after hours when making a purchase before the market opens. (Who knows, a newbie might think the price is going up, so better jump on the wagon before it's too late)

I just recently saw it happen in while watching level 2 on the opening bell. The same after-hours, abnormally high ask price was reflected in the first order of the day on the opening ticker. I think the orders were placed based on the higher pre-market ask price. Unfortunately, the ask dropped significantly immediately after that order and the pps continued to drop throughout the day. I felt sorry for whoever placed that pre-market order.
