Jim .. they own the game.
They can mark 'em and accept 'em any way they wish. I will never forget the old days in Vancouver when this crapola was rampant. At the end of the session the floor trader would scurry to his boss' office with a stack of 'fail' slips .. read .. illegal short sales. I've been there and seen it. I often put in an order in the heat of the trading but did not get confirmation till the end of the day after the 'fail' slips were counted and jacked around. I'VE SEEN IT !!! In most cases if the stock was really good my broker said "Sorry gump, you didn't get filled". But you can be assured that if the stock was about to lay an egg .. I GOT FILLED !!!!
