Hiring a transfer agent is a minor amount of money compared to the rest of the things that would need to be done. At this point very few legal transfers of stock can be made.

A private company can have no more than 500 shareholders without filing with the SEC and going through the registration process. Obviously CMKZ has many more than this left over from when it was publicly traded. It is currently illegal to buy or sell shares of CMKX under any circumstances. There are a few exceptions to this (transfer of shares between existing shareholders for example) but it doesn't really alter the situation.

They can survey forever but that doesn't produce income.

Being able to trade again (with financials in order and all fees paid) doesn't mean the stock will have any value.

As for hiring a transfer agent, they have do do something to account for all those outstanding shares and shareholders. Private companies can either do this grunt work internally or hire a transfer agent to handle the paperwork. Hiring a transfer agent has nothing to do with whether the company will trade publicly again.

I am sure Tyler sees some value in the shell but that doesn't mean the current shareholders will ever get anything out of it.
