Hogsgeteaten, there may actually be a lot of overlap in terms of what we want out of this country. I just think the difference is that you seem a lot more cynical over what the government *can* provide, that you'd prefer to strip the government of power in areas that are broken, rather than attempting to fix it.

I suppose I can relate to that, in a way, but I am much more idealistic in the sense that I would like to see it fixed - and I'll keep on voting in politicians who seem intelligent enough and willing enough to want to tackle the hard reforms.

I also think you give the government too little credit in some instances. Many areas need improvements, but I object to the notion that everything has been messed up by government, to the point where it's all a joke.

Sometimes, in order to move forward, you have to try a new approach, watch it fail, and know what not to do. What frustrates me is when Congress is deadlocked into the status quo, because the two parties disagree on direction, and the best they can do is convince a "no" vote on every measure. That's not progress. I'd rather see some change and watch it fail and be done away with, than to see the status quo that we know is broken, year over year.
