As far as communications in Haiti, I listened to the news for the first 2 days. there was extreme gaps in communication, non existant for almost everyone, and the only way at the time for almost everyone was VoIP. that only worked in areas that did not lose power and the internet. as far as satellite comm, pretty funny that some here think it was a means of communication, in reality it was for only those that had a satallite phone, which no one had until they showed up with a handfull within the first 3 days. News channels were scrambling for any kind of news or coordinated effort via communication. Jon knows what he is doing, and sanswire applications are many and usefull, and Haiti was one of them. Government would be wise to have this technology ready for the next disaster.
