Zeev, I believe everybody gets annual reports of lifetime contibution to SS. I do and so does my wife. I was just wondering if you had done a similar breakdown of the contributions vs benefits for the whole range of beneficiaries of the system. It's my impression that many people will and have received a much better return on contributions than the example of those who payed in the maximum over the maximum time period. I'm trying to verify this and thought you might know offhand. I agree that it's a "White Lie" to look at only the employees contributions when doing the cost/benefit comparisons. I've been an employee, an employer and self-employed over my working life. I have a defined benefit plan with a very well-funded local union as does my wife with the State teachers union. We'll do well with or without SS. Does you example of the top end SS recipients apply to the rest of the spectrum?
