Scary (yet incredibly kewl) thing for me is that I'm within fractions of a percent (and if the market stays green today will exceed) my all-time high set in 2007- and all the benefit and gains have come from REITs. And, during the duration of my 18 month ride I've been chided constantly for investing in REITs lol... I have, however, been pulling profits for 6 months and am currently holding approx 55% of original stake- I'm not a hog .
