My dearest Golden Penny:

Thank you for the cheerful greetings.

You posted about political correctness and you ended up getting a history lesson about early Christian codes and a language lesson about Grecian letters, too.

Chanukah started in 2009 at sundown on December 11th and ran for eight (8) days. We had our outdoor menorah on display and lit the electric candles one-by-one until we had the shamas and eight (5) candles glowing in the desert night sky on December 19th. The menorah is now stored until December of 2010 when, God willing, we will get it out and put it up again to remember The Festival of Lights. Yes, we ate lots of potato latkes; but, in the spirit of the new foodies, we also had sweet potato latkes on one night as a surprise, too. Jelly-filled doughnuts and all trimmings were enjoyed. The most expensive and most-awaited present for my wife was a saguaro rib floorlamp that I had commissioned from an artisan who had to modify my original design because the base would not support the object d'art. But your belated Chanukah wishes are accepted in the positive spirit in which they were offered.

Merry CHRISTMAS!
