Quiz answer: A few companies are developing carbohydrate-based drugs for cancer, evidently. Nice catch on Progen, which has three such programs according to the company’s website:

I don’t count MRK/GlycoFi as a quiz answer because I haven’t heard anything about a carbohydrate-based cancer drug in MRK’s pipeline. It’s been 3.5 years since the GlycoFi acquisition (#msg-11018747), presumably enough time for such a drug candidate to have surfaced if there were one.

The company I had in mind when posing the quiz question is GlycoMimetics, which was in the news today:
