Both parties rightly saw that the only thing a lawsuit between two struggling companies does is leave wealthy law firms and dead startups.
"All these companies" seem to be, what, 2? and they're revenue share deals. They'll pay if it pans out. That's certainly not the strategy I'd endorse, but at least they're connecting pay to performance.
