No problem, glad you found the info interesting. What transpired between Motorola and Cetek is somewhat confusing. Motorola and Cetek teamed up to bring a CNT display to market. After years of research and development, Motorola deicded to pull the plug on all their side projects. The stock market took a big hit and Motorola lost alot of money in share value. In order to get there share price back up they had to trim everything that was not producing cash flow for the company. Cetek stepped in and bought the rights to Motorola's patents. How this deal was structured is the big question. Cetek moved forward without Motorola and the rumor is that they have developed their own CNT display.
After Motorola abandoned CNT displays, they decided to pick it back up. They tried to use other ceramic backplanes, but all their R&D was tied into Cetek's ceramic and they could never match the success they had. I read an article in Texas State's publication called NanoExpress (Dec 2003). In that article a representative of Motorola said they had decided not to bring the first generation NED tv to market, but they were very close to unvieling the second generation. Here we are a year later and no NED TV from Motorola.
So where does this leave Cetek? That is the thousand dollar question. It is my belief that Cetek is on the verge of rolling out a CNT display, they may do it with Motorola or by themselves or with another original equipment manufacturer, but it will be coming very shortly.
Another extremely exciting avenue that Cetek is going down is working with GE on developing fuel cells. That could have a bigger market share than the display market.
This is what I believe from the research that I have done. I could be totally missing the mark, so please don't make any investment decision based on what I think. I do believe 2005 is Cetek's year.
