The most interesting statement out of all this has been "and AMD needed the money". That is why the settlement is a surprise to the anti-trust experts; they didn't know how badly AMD needed the money. If it is true that the settlement was thus driven then you can bet intc got a lot for their money.

If Glo-flo begins life with only one customer and excess capacity then any potential customers lost to other foundries mean less business to spread overhead and fixed cost to. And that means that somehow or other AMD has to bear them.
