With all that said - AMD still sucks at making PC chips - It is an industry fact that AMD's yields are by far the worst in the semi industry.

I disagree. AMD makes a relatively large number of a few
devices so its yield is probably ok. Not in Intel's class of
course (for a number of reasons) but ok.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that AMD's yield is better than
IBM Micro with basically the same process technology.
AMD makes more than 10x more high end processors
than IBM and has far more stringent cost pressures.
