Well that makes even less sense.

All good questions, really. I guess someday we will learn the answer(s). Somewhere the system is flawed.

If you don't have the answers, how can you assume the system is flawed?

What if the system is exactly what it says it is and it is the imaginary scenario that is flawed?

There are a large number of people here who have invested very heavily based on the theory that there is either a NSS or a conspiracy to sell 'air shares'. Banking on the expectation that those shares will have to be 'covered'. Surely there is more substance to the theory than 'no one knows how it works, we just all believe in it'?

How can anyone risk their money on an unsubstantiated theory without at least an outline of how it would work? Everyone blames the MMs for selling air shares or naked short shares, but they can't explain how those shares get settled by the brokers. Furthermore they know that it is the brokers that would be required to make good on those shares, but they can't explain why the brokers would take such a risk by 'settling' nonexistent shares in the first place.

All the brokers have to do is refuse to settle the shares (which by the way is what really happens) and they not only don't have any risk but they prevent the MMs from selling air shares in the first place.

Can someone else explain it?
