I'm all for the public option, bring it on. But if there is a public option I also feel the private sector should have the option of using the public option reimbursement schedule. I don't believe the argument that the public sector option won't have an advantage negotiating rates. That would be a level playing field. Much has been made of "administrative" costs, I posted a link yesterday that showed Massachusetts health care providers reported administrative costs of around 10% of premiums....strange that their administrative costs are so low yet Massachusetts has one of the most expensive state systems in the country and premiums next year are set to rise around 10%.
Level playing field ? Insurance companies receive subsidies from the government . That is known as an advantage . They also receive tax breaks .
