Rhetoric is a tricky thing! Deals are being closed. OpenID is NOT a visionary thing. Encrypted SSDs have been an awful lot of hard solid state work -- rather practical.

A solid infrastructure has been built. Nothing is less visionary that the foundation and frame of the house. You can't sell the house until it's built. I think Thibadeau is coming HOME to Wave because the house is finished and is being put on the market.

I've known you for years. It's not that we don't have deal closers as much as that our visionaries didn't envision all the hurdles to closing the deal. I'm not at all sure that OpenID is going to work. I'll have to see if/how the critical parties - yahoo, Google, Microsoft -- the main Internet companies embrace using a hardware token to secure the certificates. It's been a long time visionary thing that's now possible. If you remember when we started MSFT said they needed 100 million users. I know your frustration that it's now 300 million and they haven't moved. However, OpenID and Federated Identity, and FiXs are not Wave things. They are a kind of Security 2.0 outside of our small circle.

At the same time, Thibadeau and Willett and the TCG founders have been working towards this for a long time too.

The visionaries are the rocket scientists. I believe this fall it's moving beyond them into another rocket stage. I also think I will do the same and just watch for the rest of the year. Everybody knows what I believe anyway!

Machine Authentication, TPM management, hardening the system. Wave HAS closed the deal IMO, now the money will flow. The thousands of machines WILL turn into millions of machines.

The problem has been understanding what the deal has been about. The deal that's closed is the deal that's put TPMs in everything and gotten them accepted as a USABLE standard.

There are deals and then there are Big Deals. I've always believed that SKS and Co were after the biggest deal possible.

Back to school in the morning!!!
