They could easily beat the Bushies if they offered a program that strongly appealed to this huge mass of non-voters.
Health care for all... a return to protecting the environment... a repeal of the tax cut for the rich... withdrawal of troops from Iraq (even though it's late in coming, it's there)... there is plenty in the Dem platform that is appealing IMO. The problem is the media focusing on the "sensational" issues... like Kitty Kelley's book or not-so-swift-liars... etc. I think that's what turns people off... they get disallusioned about all the candidates and figure why bother.
But the party is dominated by conservatives that would rather lose than propose programs (like removing the income cap for social security taxes) that would truly squeeze the dominant elites.
I've never heard of that... removing cap for social security taxes? could you explain that further?
