My post was to Ergo about the war. I generally don't post about anything but the war these days.

they sure are.

You need to do some homework. They are a huge part of the population here in the U.S. AND they are a rapidly growing part of the population. Hardly what I would call a "splinter group"

everybody must think that the ukrainians, germans, russians, poles , arabs and chinese are smarter. they learn english. first generation

There is a huge difference between the groups you mention and the Mexican Americans. HUGE parts of America were once Mexico. From Tejas all the way to the Pacific Ocean at one time. None of the other groups you mention can make any kind of claim like that. Not even close. Some would argue that to leave out this hugely important fact gives your argument a racist slant.

Originally the border crossed the Mexicans they did not cross the border.

and do everything you can to retain cultural characteristics

So would you recommend some kind of cultural or ethnic cleansing?

teach them in spanish not english.

My family has been arguing for all my life that the WAY bi lingual politics has spun is bad for the Mexican Americans. Sleazy politicians both from inside their own community and Anglo's from outside their community make it into a political football that isolates the Spanish speaking community form the English speaking community to the detriment of BOTH the Spanish speaking community and English speaking community. There is absolutely ZERO reason why American could not be a bi lingual Nation other than the political foot ball the issue has become. If all Americans spoke English as a first language and Spanish as a second language it would dissolve the political football. It would make America more competitive in Latin American markets which are huge and close to us. It would also make it harder for politicians and media to lie to the public about or foreign relations with Latin America. Given the anti-education bent of our government this is not likely to happen and you may call it impractical. Perhaps so but, no more impractical than building a wall over the entire border or creating a para military force to search every home for illegal aliens.

but you cant say that, that is racist.

You just did.

almost as racist as having spanish street signs

So we should re name Los Angeles? I believe El Camino real that streches from L.A. to Frisco was named that before the war. Should we change the name? After the big real estate bust in Texas sections of the suburbs of Houston became entirely Chinese and streets were renamed in Chinese. Most Americans have a harder time reading Chinese than Spanish. The politicians did not make a political foot ball out of it and it never became that big a deal.

I think you should teach schools in black english next

Many educators in the Black community thought the Idea of teaching "black english" was a move to hold black people back. I believe the idea of teaching "black english" died out a while back as a result of the black educators objections. If I am right about that why are you bringing it up now?

or is it that 85% of the spanish kids in school are actually illegal anyway

So now there is a big influx of illegal immigrants from Spain?
Maybe we should take that up with the EU?

As far as Mexicans being smart the English speaking Mexicans
( at present my Spanish is not sufficient to disscuss details of politics. It's a charecter flaw I am working on <g> ) I talk to south of the border know a hell of a lot more about how world politics work than all but a small few of us Americans. JMO
