Dew-- I haven't read the bill so I can't comment intelligently. I agree that we have to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. I think every member of Congress does too so it's hard to believe that the bill wouldn't address it in some way. Rep Boucher from Virginia said that even under the bill coal consumption will increase. So I presume that significant monies for carbon capture and sequestration will be in the bill. It looks like there will be an increased use of electricity to power autos for the foreseeable future and anything that would improve the cleanliness in producing electricity should be encouraged by the bill. I understand there are no direct incentives for nuclear energy which seems to be a failing. Authors of the bill probably think that there are strong indirect incentives as private enterprise will more vigorously pursue cleaner forms of energy to lessen carbon costs. I'm sure a bill this big will have significant shortcomings, . But at least we are finally doing something. The status quo is killing us.
