Matt,

I believe there is a slight flaw in your basic premise, that should be reconsidered. Pro and con discussions between LONGS or SHORTS (..who actually have money at risk..) and polite third parties should be weighted somewhat more heavily than P-&-C between LONGS/SHORTS and "..uninvolved twiddlers..". It does make a difference.

Quite honestly, I believe you will be continually manuevered into being the resident ping-pong ball - until you include an "..exclusion.." privilege for the Chairman of a board. If anyone is intentionally giving a board an acute case of posterior mmmarynosis, the Chairperson (only) should be able to enter that alias in the board's EP List; just like Monitored Boards on SI.

If you're concerned over losing your "...Big Bubba control..", write the code so that persons listed in the board's "..Exclude Poster List.." (EPL) are automatically deleted every 14 days.

Most of us don't care if someone comes in an bashes or pumps a stock once or twice, or hammers a particular poster once or twice - we can trash those posts if they're too far out anyway. But, if an incessant, snarling, junkyard-mutt or Bozo-the-Bobz-Tout is going to make a total nuisance/aggravant of themselves - a 14 day vacation should give time then adequate time for reflection. It's a board matter. And, advice that you could be excluded (..for at least 14 days..) by the Chairperson in the TOU catalog would be fair warning.

If the Excludee feels that they have been grossly wronged, etc., they can always petition the Lord-high-IH-Admin-MuckityMuck for redress - "...if..." it's their second or third exclusion. Otherwise, it should be a board-level management decision right or wrong.

mmmary's harangue on ASTN and NPCT had to have resulted in a flood of TOSs, PMs and eMails to you - which jacks up your "sensitivity quotient" and seems to piss you off at both the offender and the TOSsor. When it appears that you are overly supportive of some infamous WWW bash-a-zoids (...now clearly shown to be associated with Anthony@Pacific per a recent interview...) it really looks "...too dam* cozy..." to the membership. It both garners and heightens resentment.

We can run our own boards pretty well. Your micromanagement is more of an issue than the give-and-take on the boards themselves.

"Sarals" would still be a Chairperson/Director if she hadn't been been bludgeoned daily - with no tools to deal with the problem that you wouldn't constantly override. Same with the NPCT board.

In any organization, you either support your middle-management with the heavy benefit of the doubt applied to that "...First Line of Defense..." - or, you'll eventually find guppies swimming through your wheelhouse.

And, if a "..joemoney.." or anyone else wants to manage a board (..after the EP List has been included..) let them pick a stock from the gazillions available, start their own dam* board, and pontificate over it until they go blind - or until you get 30+ sepearate requests to remove the Chairperson.

You create a lot more problems than you solve by interfering with the "...staff...", who are doing their job pretty dam* well to start with.

Don't you have some code to write, or a banner-ad to negotiate - go do YOUR job, Bubba.
