I have two kitchens in my house, main up and galley downstairs, bilevel custom-built home. Christmas Eve, I'm getting drinks from the downstairs fridge in the small kitchen and feel water drops on my head; I look up and see a small stream of water coming out the cabinet above the refrigerator and all of a sudden I think of the upstairs dsihwasher, the only thing running. It's hard-wired and won't shut off so I run to the breaker box in the garage and turn it off via the breaker. I figured, well, since the DW is almost 20 years old, the heating element must've finally rotted out the bottom, causing the leak. Nope, found out when it was replaced a couple weeks later that a mouse had chewed through the drain hose (big mutha of a hole, too!). Before sealing up the bottom on the new one, set a few traps underneath jic, lol...

Who'da thunk that was the problem?
