jfburk, that was a realistic statement!

How could anyone think that the appointment of an individual who has been retired for 25 years possibly think that it "appears the network, or reach, or vision of this current company has just grown significantly."?

Here's the thing. Even using the best case scenario, this gentleman has to be VERY OLD. The news article said he retired in 1984, correct? So, even if he enlisted at 18 years old and retired after 37 years of service....he was 55 years old in 1984. That is (I think....) the best case scenario. So that was 25 YEARS ago.

So he is what.....80 years old now? I'm sure he is a nice guy....I'm sure he knew his stuff....even back when he retired. He MIGHT have kept up with things. Let's say he did. Do you suppose he still has contacts?

I did find a letter to President Bush that he and a bunch of others signed in 2004 in regards to a missile defense initiative. I have been unable to find much else on him, although I admit it has been a rather hurried search.

It certainly seems as though some here are putting a lot of importance on this news.

I don't consider it very ground shaking however. I'm sure the retired General was very grateful to have been treated with such importance.

I keep telling myself....deep breath....count to ten....try to answer without personal attack...present fact to back up your opinion.
