I also agree that the timing could be better...but when I planned my vacation I had no idea what would be going on at my job (nor do I still since I have 2 weeks to go)

So it seems just bad luck on planning a vacation while your kids are on spring break and getting a LOI on the company you run 2 weeks prior to your trip. But what was he suppose to do, cancel his vacation. As others have noted I'm sure he has his cell phone and laptop with him, and is in communication with all involved.

This is getting exciting no matter how you look at it!
