Wow I go out with the family for dinner and a movie and about what I expected happens (well besides dinner being with neighbors and the movie being Pokemon 2000 on DVD).

Name calling and other childish activities (my wife warned me you can only teach those who want to be taught) instead of active discussion of the thread.

So Janice Jim Bishop, one last attempt with logic. :)

I'll use one of Janice's examples:
Quote - The school cafeteria has one hundred oranges. Jim buys ten. I borrow Jim's ten oranges and sell them to TSXminer.

How many oranges are there in all? End-quote

Looks straight forward if AGAIN you ignore the fact that while you “borrow” and sell Jim's 10 oranges to TSXminer, at the same time Jim sold those same 10 oranges that “unknowingly to Jim” you borrowed to olico.

Now you have the 90 oranges the School Cafeteria still owns, the 10 oranges that were Jim's but are now olico's and the 10 oranges you borrowed from Jim which you sold to TSXminer. 90+10+10= 110? 10 phantom oranges?

Where did the other 10 oranges come form? So unless when you borrow Jim's 10 oranges, you make it so he “CAN NOT” sell his oranges until you return them to him, Shorting is dilution. Plus I would be mad if I was Jim having my legally bought oranges locked by some shorter. :)

So take this to stocks:

School Cafeteria (SC) has 100 shares issued to it for sale
Jim buys 10 shares
Janice borrows Jim's 10 shares and sell them to TSXminer
So at this point SC has 90 + Jim owns 10 + TSXminer owns 10 = 110 shares
Hmmmm
Now Jim sells his 10 shares to olico before Janice returns what she borrowed from him
So now SC has 90 + TSXminer owns 10 + olico now owns 10 = 110 shares

WOW it looks like Jim did not have to sell his stock to olico for the market to already be diluted with another 10% of stock.

let's see 90+10+10=110 yep, had to make sure, it is still 10 more shares then what was issued to the School Cafeteria for sale.

Dilution no matter HOW LONG it takes place for (even if it is only for 5 minutes) is dilution of a Company's stock.
Back to what started this conversation many hours ago (which has involved at least 6 different people so far).

Shorting is BAD!

No matter that my wife thinks I'm wasting time using logic here, this has been a fun conversation thread. Let the bashing began anew.
