A most interesting analogy.........

....the platypus that is. They've been around millions of years, never very succesful in the evolutionary competitive equation, a shrinking environment, comparatively low body temp, a venomous, egg-laying mammal with a common duct for urination, defecation and reproduction.

But they're both still around. Few have ever seen or heard of them.
