Also, if you don't have to drive up the river as you say, please post a Map quest or Google Earth address that shows a road to the mine.
Here is one I posted earlier (Post # 20957) showing theHassayampa river at the confluence of fool's canyon about 12 miles north of Wickenburg, Az.

Click on “Aerial Image”, then zoom in. The only road I can find is up the Hassayampa River. You can see some old remains of buildings, probably from the folks who mined the area many years ago. What a great looking mine!
