If they helped Iraq why would they not help Iran? The Russians jammed our "smart bomb" radar during the "shock and awe campaign". Powell accused them of it and they did not try very hard to deny it. The U.S. had sharp shooters hitting the last of the Russian "diplomats" leaving Iraq within a few days of Powell making the accuasation.
I find the politics of the Nuclear reactors in Iran quite interesting. Russia has its fair share of problems with the Muslim world. Why would they be helping Iran go nuclear? Do they plan to put an army in Iran soon that the Russians have no intention of ever removing? If so the Nuclear power plants would be a convient source of power and nuclear bomb material right there in the middle east waiting for them. A coaltion government of Russia and Iran would give the Russians the warm water water port they have always been looking for and a decided advantage in any power grab for the Straight of Hormuz. With the way we have been threating the Arab world it is not to hard to imagine that Iran would consider some power sharing of Iran with the Russians the lesser of evils compared to ending up like Iraq.
