So, if the A/S was 1 million and I had 500 thousand outstanding, then I had 500 thousand in the treasury. Is that correct?
It doesn't necessarily mean that 500 thousand shares retired to treasury become the unused part of A/S.
That would require an amendment to the articles of incorporation.
Just like those 1.7 billion shares retired, in order to lower A/S to (9.8-1.7=8.1) 8.1 billion, a special amendment is required. So far they are "just" returned to treasury.
