mlf082488, it was the EPA testers that exaggerated the claims of hybrids’ mpg based on lab tests of exhaust emissions. The Hybrids just let it stand. I know about the false high end claims of Hybrids mpg. And gee wiz that they are lying about those claims and still not mass producing those hybrid cars like the conspiracy would suggest. Because they still do get around 10 to 15 more mpg than regular cars if not 30 or more. Especially the Toyoto one. More than enough for the US not to need to import any oil from the middle east. mlf082488 you keep fighting the points. Hybrids’ advantage is just not better gas mileage if not great better gas mileage. But like the EPA tests indicate they drive much cleaner in city stop and go traffic and get that 7 more mpg to reduce oil imports from the middle east. That is all it takes. But the auto makers will also BS too. As if with hybrids they are greening America, the environment and getting us off the oil and ICT addiction. They’re not.

“People are like slinkies...basically useless, but it still brings a smile to my face when I see one tumble down the stairs.”
Hybrids don’t get as much mpg as claimed

Only 5 to 7 more mpg would eliminate US’s dependency on middle east oil
